Dear BANB7 Community
WELCOME
A very warm welcome back to second term to our school community. An extra warm BANB7 welcome to those children and families who are beginning their journey with us. We trust that you have been made to feel welcome and that your time with us provides you and your children with opportunities to grow, learn and feel a part of the special community we have at BANB7.
During the holidays the Port Adelaide / Enfield Council has been busy installing a new Emu Crossing adjacent to the Children’s Centre car park. We are thrilled with this new addition and believe that this extra pedestrian crossing will improve the safety of members of our school community as they make their way to and from school.
To those school community members who travel from the western side of the school (Prospect Rd), we ask that you please use this new crossing and ensure that your children do as well. BANB7 staff have been working very closely with the PAE Council for some time now to improve the safety conditions for our community on Marmion Ave and we are grateful to the Council for their help and support.
NAPLAN
The annual NAPLAN testing will take place during weeks three and four of term for children in years 3,4 and 7.
SUNSMART
Generally, hats need to be worn each day during terms 1 and 2. As our seasons continue to change though, we still experience high UV levels at times during terms 2 and 3. We ask that all children please continue to bring their hats with them to school in case they need to be worn on days of higher UV danger.
HARMONY DAY
The entire BANB7 school community celebrated Harmony Day through a variety of celebrations.
Children wore orange or their cultural clothing. Studio homegroups worked with other studios to create Mandalas. We joined in a parade around the loop to see the bunting that was created by the whole school and hung out for all to appreciate. Everyone sat out on the oval at lunchtime on picnic rugs to eat together and have a Harmony Day picnic.
We listened to music through recess and lunch from differing cultures out in the yard and piazza. Children experienced henna symbols painted on their hands by some of the older girls in the school. Team time ended our school celebration on the last day of term with children speaking in a variety of languages, recounting the activities that were done and looking at a film made especially for Harmony Day called Yoga… Because if we are relaxed and practising our mindfulness, we can be tolerant and accepting of others. We can work out how we can all get along and live in harmony together.
Wishing everyone a great term two.
Regards, Darren
