From the Principal
Dear families,
The term is whizzing by! We remain extremely proud of our learners this year – their commitment to their learning, the respect they are showing adults and other learners and their kindness in general has been outstanding.
This year, we are aiming for all of our learners to be engaged, thinking and empowered. This week, we have seen great examples of our learners doing these:
Engaged: Our Year 3 & Year 5 learners have participated in NAPLAN which started this week. It has been wonderful to hear some learner’s excitement about doing the reading and writing tests and we have seen all learners engage in these. We have been especially proud of some of our learners who were initially worried but then showed bravery by giving it a go… and they loved the challenge!
Thinking: During my visits in studios, I have seen so many examples of our learners thinking hard to solve problems. My favourite was in Miss Yvette’s studio this week, where they were thinking hard to total two parts during a Maths warm up. I heard some mistakes being made, yet they kept thinking until they worked it out!
Empowered: My favourite part of the week was hearing our potential Young Leaders deliver their speeches. I loved how they were brave, spoke so clearly, recovered from mistakes, overcame their nerves. This morning at Team Time, we announced our 2025 Young Leaders. They are:
Von Bertouch
Evee
Layla
Noora
Hewitt
Tyler
Basil
Asal H
Wanganeen
Zahra
Sayla
Malakai
Cardwell
Mokhtar
Laza
Hadia
A special acknowledgement to those who applied but were unsuccessful this time. We look forward to hearing the voices of our Young Leaders this year.
Student Free Day: Just a reminder that we have a Student Free Day coming up on Monday 24th March (week 9). All staff will be involved in professional learning on this day. Our focus will be Inclusive practices.
Car parking: Please remember that our staff car park is primarily for staff. We also have buses that need to come in and leave via the staff car park. This means that there is not room for parents to park when collecting children at the end of the day. Please organise to pick up children from other exit points (eg Stanley St) at the end of the day.
Arbury Park Camp: This year, we have secured a spot at Arbury Park for our year 5 & 6 classes. The camp will involve an overnight stay and will occur in Term 3. At this point, we are still organising many of the details, however more information will be available about this very soon. We are excited to take our learners on a camp and know that this will be a chance to form lifelong memories.
Thank you to our families for your continued support. We have such a fabulous parent community and we value you greatly.
Kind regards,
Leonie
Neighbourhood News
Yellow 4
Yellow 4 have been working extremely hard to expand our mathematical thinking in rounding, today we were able to identify rounding into the billions! Both year 3's have also been reading the BFG by Roald Dahl which we are loving!

Yellow 1
In Term 1, the children have been learning a topic about ‘My family and I’. They have enjoyed making their house and drawing people in their family. The children are also learning to write simple sentences using articles, adjectives and verbs to describe their family members.
In Yellow 1 the children have enjoyed working as a team and practicing being kind. They have been learning to make powerful sentences using descriptive words.
Red 3 had a good start of the year and we have welcomed some new children in our studio. We are settling well in our routines and getting to know each other. We started our year with BBB Belonging, Being and Becoming theme and did some learning and artwork about it. We are also learning to be a part of our wider school community like Red neighbourhood, the whole school team time and our whole school community.

Yellow 6 and 7
This term Yellow 7 and Yellow 6 have been working together on Play Is The Way Games instilling in children the importance of Life Skills through games and the realisation that we don’t have to tackle Life problems on our own. One of the games is called “ Islands “ where they need to work together to be successful. The game encourages children to see beyond their own survival and work together in order for the whole class to be successful.- The other game is called “ Tap slap “ using a bean bag which encourages students to listen carefully and try and win points against an opponent. Mistakes are also given points provided they manage themselves and stop in time. This emphasizes that mistakes can be made and it’s OK as long as you manage yourself in time or fix the problem caused.
Through discussion the students see the importance of these skills in their every day interactions and transferring these skills to their everyday life and classroom situations.
Strategies we are practicing are……
“ To manage yourself you need to listen well and have thinking strength to stop yourself from making a mistake” By Summer, Yoges and Paria.
“In the game Islands you need to be brave and courageous and not follow your friends to be successful. “ By Katana, Aarav and Sommy

How do i order?
Photo envelopes have been sent home for ordering - please ensure you enclose the correct amount of cash or you can order photos online direct with the photography company. Instructions for online ordering are on the photo envelope. School cannot give change for photos as the orders go direct to the photographers.

I did not receive a photo envelope.
Please check your child's bag. Each student received an individualised order enveloper. If you cannot find it, please collect a blank envelope from the front office.
What happens if my child is away on March 27th?
There will a 'catch up' day on Tuesday April 8th. Students who were away can have their photo taken then.
