From the Principal
Dear families,
As we move towards the end of the year, the excitement for many of our children increases. Many of our LAs have a range of activities planned for the next couple of weeks, including:
· Yellow 5 excursion to the movies
· Purple 2 & 3 excursion to the movies
· Yellow 5 excursion to the zoo
· Year 6 celebration excursion to the Beach house
· Purple 1 & 2 water fun day
Our year 6s are also eagerly awaiting both their transition visits to their high school in week 8 and their graduation, which will occur on Tuesday Week 9. We are looking forward to all of these opportunities to celebrate the year.
Some of our Year 6 learners have been involved in the Pre Academy Transition program with Roma Mitchell Secondary College. This program sees our learners build relationships with Yr 6 learners from other schools who will also attend Roma Mitchell SC for their secondary years. They also connect with Yr 7/8 students from RMSC who then become their mentors. Thank you to David who has supported this program again this year. We look forward to it continuing in 2025.
Andrea Michaels MP visited us recently to recognise and acknowledge three of our LAs. Congratulations to Yvette, Harpreet and Zara who received this recognition. We are very proud to have you as part of our BANB6 team!
$20 Boss project.
Our Year 5/6 learners in Red 1, 5 & 6 have been developing their entrepreneurial skills through the $20 Boss project. Each learner was given $20 to budget, plan, advertise, and create a product or service. This exciting project has been a fantastic opportunity for learners to develop teamwork, entrepreneurial thinking, and problem-solving skills. All profits will go towards our upcoming Year 6 Graduation. Families are welcome to join us for the $20 Boss ‘market’ on Tuesday Week 8, between 12.10pm – 2pm. See attached flyer for details.
Mobile Phones
We have an increase in the numbers of children bringing their mobile phones to school. You will be aware that mobile phones and other personal devices (including smart watches) are banned from school (unless an exemption is in place). If your child is bringing their mobile phone or personal device to school, they must hand it in to the front office in the morning and collect it at the end of the school day.
We are currently reviewing our processes for this, including looking into storage options for mobile phones. For the rest of this year, all mobile phones will be stored at the front office in a locked drawer for the day.
Please remind your child about handing in their mobile phone to the front office at the beginning of each school day.
2025 Studio placements
Next year, all studios will be straight year levels. We are currently in the process of finalising the studios that children will go into and we will then assign Learning Advisors to studios. Our intention is that these groupings will stay the same for at least two years as this supports strengthened relationships. Strong relationships are critical for children to thrive in their learning, and to enhance their sense of belonging and identity.
If you have any questions about your child’s studio placement for 2025, please contact us.
Team Time.
Our next Team Time is this Friday at 9am. We look forward to seeing our families there.
