From the Principal
Dear families,
Welcome back to school for Term 4. Term 4 is always an exciting time, particularly for our Year 6 learners who are starting to visit their high school for next year. There are also a range of excursions being planned and exciting learning opportunities right across the school. It is set to be another big term!
Hats
It has been a very warm start to the term and a reminder for us about hats. Term 4 is No Hat, No Play and every child needs to have a hat when outside. We do have hats for sale in the front office and some spare hats if needed. Please remember to clearly write your child’s name on the hat. Thank you for supporting your child with this.
Sports Day:
This year’s Sports Day will be held next Friday (25th October). Our learners have been practising for various events and our Young Leaders are preparing to lead their teams on the day. We hope to see families join us for this day.
The BANB6 Kitchen Garden Market Stall will be open on Sports Day. Families will be able to purchase our famous pizza as well as seedlings, flowers, preserves. Don’t forget to visit our Kitchen Garden on the day!
Learning Review
Term 4 is also the time that all staff reflect on the year and review the learning that has occurred. This will happen throughout the term both as a staff and in discussions with other educators from around South Australia. Our Student Free Day on Monday Week 6 will be a great opportunity for our Learning Advisors to visit other schools. During this day, we will understand better what we are already doing well and consider what we might need to tweak for our learners.
Intentions for 2025
We are starting to organise the classes for next year. If you are intending to send your child to another school next year, please let us know as soon as possible. You can do this by phoning or dropping into the front office. Thank you!
Traffic on Marmion Ave
Please remember that the carpark within the school gates is for staff only. It is also for our school bus which needs to access the car park each morning and afternoon for children’s safety.
Online Safety
Our government recently held a Social Media Summit which highlighted the need for continuous education about using technology. Social media has many benefits however we do want our children to be safe at all times whilst using technology. Families can find information about how to support children at the E-Safety website. Please contact us if you need ideas about how to manage your child’s use of technology or if you have concerns about their use.
This link will take you to further information: https://www.esafety.gov.au/parents
You are always welcome to contact your child’s Learning Advisor to talk about their learning. Please contact them through Seesaw or by making an appointment at the front office.
Take care,
Leonie
Purple Zoo Excursion
On Wednesday, the learners from Purple 5 and Purple 6 visited the Adelaide Zoo, as they had learnt about koalas and kangaroos in term 3. The children were very excited to see these animals in real life and some of them demonstrated their learning by using vocabulary such as habitat, marsupial, joey, pouch, fur, and eucalyptus leaves to name a few. When asked about visiting the Zoo, a student in P6 exclaimed that all her dreams had come true by seeing the animals. Another student in P5 said she loved spotting the koalas sleeping up in the tree. It was a wonderful experience for the children and the LA’s were very proud of all the children. Here are some photo highlights!
