From the Principal
We hope families have enjoyed their EID celebrations. It has been wondeful to hear from our learners and families about how they have celebrated.
Notes about Family Connections Day went home this week – please return the information to school so that times can be allocated. More information about Family Connections Day will follow next term.
New from Term 2:
We will be trialling sending an SMS to families when children are absent from school when it is unexplained. Please let us know if your child is going to be absent from school by sending a message via email, seesaw or phoning our front office.
From Term 2, our newsletter will be published on at the end of Weeks 1, 4, 7 and 10. A translating option is available at the bottom of this page if you require it.
After a very busy term, we know our learners, families and educators are looking forward to a restful break over the school holidays. Stay safe, and we shall see learners back at school on Monday 29th April.

Kitchen Garden
Autumn is properly here! In Kaurna this is known as Parnati, which is flexibly observed in April/May/June.
Our learners have been observing some signs of this change of season in our kitchen garden:
- grape Vine leaves have been changing colour and falling off
- the vines are preparing to store their energy for Winter
- Indian Guava fruit is becoming ripe and we have been eating them (Yum!)
- tomato and climbing bean plants are finishing their seasonal life cycles and leaving us with seeds to collect and store for winter.
Morning and evening temperatures have been cooler and the hours of daylight shorter.
Our Basil is starting to make less leaves and more seeds, so we have been making the very popular Basil and herb Pesto in our Kitchen Garden sessions. Learners have been lathering it on their wood fired pizza slices, putting it on apples, eating it by the spoonful!

Our Kitchen Garden recipe for Green Basil Pesto is attached.
Neighbourhood News
Yellow 6 did a mini-inquiry into Pete Cromer’s art style. They explored shape and how to use shape to create an artwork in a similar style to Pete Cromer. These artworks are still being created, however they are already looking quite stunning. Some will be displayed in our front office once complete – come and check them out in Term 2!

Young Leader News
Our Young Leaders had a planning day this week, where they discussed and began to design what their Young Leader role might involve. Some of the ideas they floated were: creating a student parliament, teaming up with learners from across the school to hold special days and events, and
From next term, our Young Leaders will write their own report for our newsletter. Watch this space!

Whole School Happenings
Learners from Purple 4, Purple 2 , Yellow 2 and Red 1, 5 & 6 travelled to the Festival Centre today to see their artworks exhibited. These artworks were created during a recent collaboration with the CentrED Artspace artist in residence program. The exhibition is open from over the school holidays and the public are encouraged to go along to see it.
