Walk of Awareness
On the 13th February 2008, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd publicly apologised, on behalf of the Federal Government, to the Stolen Generations who were forcibly removed from their families and communities as children.
On the anniversary, Port Adelaide and Enfield Council organises the Walk of Awareness. We walked over the creaky Birkenhead Bridge where we could see jelly fish and fish.
Uncle Moogie (Major Sumner) was waiting for us over the bridge welcoming us with a smoking ceremony.
Uncle Rodney O’Brien did the Welcome To Country. Alex Houthuysen – chairperson of the Aboriginal Advisory Panel (Port Adelaide Enfield Council) spoke about how the traditional Kaurna land was about the children and to always remember those who were taken away from their families.
There was a sausage sizzle, sandwiches, cupcakes and fruit for us all to enjoy. We were also given Feb 13 Apology caps and t-shirts to wear and keep.

Purple East

In Purple East we have had a busy start to the year. We have been working hard to foster a caring and safe learning environment. The last few weeks have included a solid start with InitiaLit and many learning opportunities based around number and place value. We also made some delicious savoury muffins in the kitchen after harvesting fresh produce from the lush garden.

Purple 3 and 4

Purple 3 & Purple 4 are the Year 1 studios this year, and we will be called Purple South! Both Studios have had a wonderful start to being back at school in 2023. We have enjoyed getting to know each other more, by following the school Being, Belonging & Becoming Program in the first two weeks. We have also loved harvesting in the Garden, cooking in the Kitchen, and eating the yummy, healthy veggie muffins we made together. We can’t wait to visit again & impress Tom & Steph with our fabulous Kitchen/ Garden skills! We have had fun learning a new Play is the Way game called ‘Islands’. The children had to work as a team, be positive, encourage each other and think about how to make more people fit into the hoops, as we removed a hoop each round. It was challenging, however the teamwork and values the children demonstrated was amazing to see. Great job P4 & P3!!

Purple West

What’s been happening in Purple West?
What a busy start to our children’s school year it has been. All the children were very happy and excited to be at school which was great to see.
This term we will be concentrating on our children’s Belonging, Being & Becoming. This refers to how a child from even before birth is linked to family, community, culture and place. Through these relationships a child's development and learning takes place as they begin to explore, develop interests, create their own identity and make meaning to the world around them.
We have been exploring our environment and everything school has to offer. We have been getting to know each other, making new friends, and learning lots of new names.
