From the Principal
Dear Families,
This term is passing by very quickly! We have been very proud of our learners this term – they are more engaged in their learning than ever before. We have seen an enormous decrease in our behaviour incidences because our Learning Advisors are committed to ensuring every child feels that they belong and are culturally safe in their studio. Our learners are developing skills to cope with day-to-day challenges alongside our fabulous support team (Ali, Jez, Dex, Dillon & Farzan).
Within their learning, they are developing and demonstrating more curiosity – we see this when children ask lots of questions. We are also noticing lots of our learners using their imagination to solve problems and think about things differently.
One way our Year 5 & 6 learners are developing and demonstrating their curiosity and creativity is through our Artist in residence program. Simon from Stiles Be is partnering with our Year 5 & 6 learners to explore ‘empowerment’. Through these artist sessions we are seeing our learners explore and demonstrate dispositions connected to visual arts:
- Creative
- Empathetic
- Confident
- Self-aware
From now until the end of Term 2, these learners will learn key skills and practices for creating a visual art piece, then take their art to an authentic audience. They will hold their own art exhibition, as artists, in the Ebb n Flow café in the city. This is an exciting opportunity for our learners to experience what it is like to be an artist.
This week’s session focused on symbols used in art to show empowerment. If you have a Year 5 or 6 learner, ask them what those symbols might be.

Next term, we will welcome Eleanor Kratz as our Performing Arts Specialist. Eleanor comes with lots of experience in music and drama and we know our learners will absolutely love the learning she is planning. We wish Michelle (Dancing Michelle) all the very best for the birth of her child. We look forward to welcoming her back in 2026.
Our final Team Time for the term will be held on Friday 11th April (week 11) at 9am. This is our celebration Team Time where we share lots of photos from the term. We hope to see our families there to celebrate with us.
Just a reminder that school will finish at 2pm on the last day of term.
Kind regards,
Leonie
